"For this album, I just wanted to have a little taste of
yesteryear. I remember many years ago, coming home from the gig,
the guys used to come over to my house afterwards. I always had
something to eat, because I was the only one who was married, there
was always a pot of something on the stone. We would have some
booze and some food and we'd just play and . . . be like family,
you know? I wanted that again."
SHIRLEY HORN
The Main Ingredient is the music. Shirley and her guests kept their focus and captured some very special moments and the feeling that she sought when she began this project.
It doesn't get more intimate than attending dinner and a private concert in Shirley's living room with several of today's top jazz musicians.
"So help yourself to a big plate of my famous beef-and-beer, peel
yourself a grape, and join the party."
